The person will be responsible for supporting and extending our global information technology infrastructure in the NY headquarters and remote locations. The primary focus will be a Windows server and VMware environment. The Systems Administrator is responsible to implement, maintain, document, augment and upgrade the companies Enterprise Systems, which include but are not limited to Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, 2008/R2, 2012, Exchange Server 2010, SQL Server, server hardware and server virtualization. Routine duties will include hardware/software alert monitoring/response, security patch installations, backup monitoring, problem resolution, general server administration, routine operational checks/reports, and systems help desk ticket issue resolution. Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Active Directory/Exchange tasks including but not limited to: account creation/deactivation, mailbox creation/deletion, security and distribution group creation. Perform Windows server administration functions (e.g. Performance tuning, application of OS patches and service packs, driver updates). Installation of monthly Microsoft Security updates and hotfixes for servers. Perform Standard break/fix replacement for failed components (e.g. disk drives, power supplies, etc.) as required. Build and deploy physical and virtual Windows servers as necessary. Maintain monitoring systems to insure that performance metrics collection is working and up to date with server inventory. Respond to any anomalies reported from monitoring software. Maintain equipment inventory of server assets. Monitor and troubleshoot D2D backup software to insure completion of nightly backups including daily reporting of backup completion status. Perform routine monitoring and operational checks on server and network infrastructure. Troubleshoot email routing issues. Liaise with the Help Desk to provide systems level support in order to resolve/diagnosis issues. Utilize standard change control and security procedures to implement changes to hardware and software in the operational environment. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor. Qualifications, Skills and Experience 3-5 Years Experience with Wintel server platforms (Dell and/or Client preferred) 3-5 Years VMware vSphere 4.X/5.X experience. Hyper-V a plus. Windows Server 2003 and 2008/R2 experience including configuration, administration and troubleshooting. 2012 a plus. Strong knowledge of AD design/implementation and Group Policy. Microsoft Exchange 2010 (or 2007) experience required. DHCP and DNS administration. Solarwinds Orion experience or similar network/application monitoring software Symantec Endpoint Protection or other enterprise class AV administration knowledge Day-to-day knowledge of SQL Server. DBA level knowledge not required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field is a PLUS VMware or Microsoft certification (MCSE, MCITP, MCSA, etc) is a PLUS
